April MML game
« on: April 04, 2009, 09:13:49 AM »
What time will we be starting the MML?  I think we can go to Legions at 11am?  With it being a new place, and people not being able to get there so early, and potentially getting lost, I would suggest we plan to start at noon.  I defer to ben for something official, but thought I should bring this up so people are there in time, but don't rush to wait around for an hour.

I'd like everybody to try and be there around noon, if possible. We can wait to start the game around 12:30 just to give people as much time as possible to get there too.  If anybody would like my cellphone number (in case you end up being late) who doesn't already have it, please PM me.

On that note, due to it being Easter weekend, and the move happening, I would also like to get an attendance figure.

I am definitely in.

Good, looks like we'll have another nice game.

In regards to possible space issues, I have been in touch with Don.  Given what may happen, we may need to limit the game to one or two tables depending on all the different factors, but game time will remain unchanged.  I don't like having to put a cap on the number of players, but it may need to come to it.

On a lighter note, for anyone who is coming in via the Parkway West, there is no construction by Robinson this weekend ;D

April 12, 2009 - The Day After

Well, not too bad of a showing the day before a holiday. 12 in all, right?

I was so glad that I wasn't a "target" for this game, it made for a completely enjoyable time. My deck played pretty much the way it was suppose to and I lived to see turn 7 for a second time in a row. WOW!

My deck list went something like this:
RGU - SnakeTongue
4 Mystic Snake
4 Flametongue Kavu
4 Wild Mongrel
4 Birds of Paradise
4 Call of the Herd
4 Counterspell
4 Fire/Ice
3 Naturalize
3 Fact or Fiction
4 Ghost Flame
3 Umezawa Jitte (I had them in hand but never played them)
3 Savage Twister
the rest lands...

When Darin (aka "I'll never play control again") had the Standstill down on the table I knew I was okay to get rid of Nick's creature that was draining us all of life3 for the amount of swamps we had in play. I, along with several others, would've been gone in the next turn or two.

Ugh!

Can't let THAT happen!  ;)

So I took one for the team and the village was saved! Yeah!

Good game everyone!

It was good to see that the new location didn't stop us, as this month had 11 players. :D
Here are the highlights:

Wall-o-rama!
While kinda meh in duels, walls can be very usefull in the multiplayer environment, and a lot more people than usual it seemed were packing them.

Finally, Syphon Soul HAS COME BACK! To the M...M..L
Yes, Syphon Soul is back. Yes it killed people. Yes people gained alot of life.
What's that? You play 2 Syphon Souls. Ok, we can deal with that 40 life. Oh, you have Boon Reflection. And another Syphon Soul.....

To infinity and beyond!!!
Yes, the MML was once again graced with an infinite combo deck.  However, this time it was fairly obvious it was coming (via Enduring renwal and cheap artifacts) but for whatever reason, people showed mercy, and got what was coming to them.

Standstill + Stern Judge + Blanket of Night = **CENSORED**
For those of you who missed this little bundle of joy:  Imagine you can't play a spell, because if you do, it gets countered and everyone else draws 3 cards.
Joy. Add in the fact that playing lands = more pain when the Stern Judge gets angry now means playing a card is probably more hassle then its worth ( At least nobody had a Megrim on the table)  This little episode in the game led to

Mark taking one for the team!?
Yes, that is not a typo.  Mark played the spell that triggered Standstill (and a whole lotta other stuff) and cost him about 5 life in the process

Mycosinthe Lattice and Furnace Dragon
Still clears the board 2 and a half hours into the game.  That is all :-X

Sorry for the lateness, updated standings should be posted later on today!

Almost forgot the quotes of the game!

Nick: I'm going to ruin the surprise, I'm playing black.

Adrian: Reflecting pool. Yaaaay. Now I can reflect *pauses* black.

Nick: I play Stern Judge and then Blanket of Night
Marty: Death to Smoochy at the end of the table

Mark: His mind games are  "I play this, and you go 'AHHHHHH!'"(about Marty)

Marty: He (Adrian) cuts his hair, and his deck gets shorter, it's like Samson here
Mark: Wrong vowell

Nick: There's a reason, he just doesn't know it yet (Upon Marty trying to figure out why a certain card is in his deck)

Eugene: Drawing one card, drawing 2 cards, both Mountains!
Nick: When I said put in lands, I didn't mean the whole deck!
