What Xanos suggested in game, was what he suspects. He doesn't have the mind of the GM however, so it is just a guess by the player.

I don't think assisting would count towards the limit. Really, assisting isn't in the rules either, but I went with it. I see you holding herbs, or standing in a particular way, or mimicking the same words as the caster, etc.

I wasn't keeping track of how many prayers you've asked Mark. If you think you are at Zero, you may be. I thought you make a makeshift alter awhile back and got your prayers back?

I have used zero, or in other words I still have 2 prayers left before I need to worship again. (The two I thought might have been used was 1 the assist, and 2 the heal. Since you have confirmed that neither one was a prayer I still have a full load.)

Hakim makes a good point and seems to have changed the Captain's mood about leaving.
