The MML “Quick Start” rules for 2009 season

The Multiplayer Magic League (MML) is a casual, multiplayer Magic: The Gathering tournament held every Game Day.  There has to be at least three players to make the MML game “Official”.

Games typically start between 12:00 and 12:30, but exceptions will be made as needed

•Everyone starts at 20 life.
•Play begins with the highest roller and proceeds to his/her left.
•Chaos Magic: Players may attack anyone and target spells at anyone or anything (within legal bounds).  Players may even divide attacks against multiple opponents.  Global spells affect everyone.
•Starting on Turn 7 (and every turn thereafter): players MAY OPTIONALLY draw an additional card during their draw step.
•Thumbs up/Thumbs down: In the event of a rules dispute that cannot be resolved in a friendly manner, take a vote of the active players.  The majority rules.

I think here would be a good place to post the updated rules changes for M10.
Not everything is black and white.

The MML “Quick Start” rules for 2010 season (changes from 2009 are in italics)

The Multiplayer Magic League (MML) is a casual, multiplayer Magic: The Gathering tournament held every Game Day.  There has to be at least three players to make the MML game “Official”.

Games typically start between 12:00 and 12:30, but exceptions will be made as needed

MML “House Rules”

Deckbuilding
•Minimum 75 cards, no maximum.
•No more than 4 of any card, except basic lands.
•Silver bordered cards, “ante” cards, Vanguard character cards, and proxies are banned.

Game Play
•In the event that there are 10 or more participants in an MML game, the group will break off into two smaller groups. We will start with whoever is at the bottom of the standings to pick which group to play with.  **This is only until March, where we will re-evaluate this rule**
•Seating: everyone stands up and rolls a d20 (roll-off ties).  The highest roller gets to pick his/her seat.  Then the next highest picks a seat.  Continue until all players are seated. Play begins with the highest roller and proceeds to his/her left.

•Thumbs up/Thumbs down: In the event of a rules dispute that cannot be resolved in a friendly manner, take a vote of the active players.  The majority rules.

Concessions
•The first concession, regardless of circumstance is penalty free

• Additional concessions will incur a penalty of 2 points for the first one, 4 for the second, 6 for the third, and so forth, pending a vote by the players remaining in the game.

•If a player is conceding the game, the remaining players will decide per the game circumstances if a penalty is appropriate.  Players will vote judging whether the conceding player is in a hopeless scenario, or not.

•Players needing to conceed the game due to an emergency will not be assessed a penalty.  Leaving for another game (even if the event has been scheduled) does not count as an emergency)

Scoring (Changed for 2010 Season)
