Yep, Phantom has the AvX starter kits. We're also probably going to start doing some of the organized play sessions (which is a draft format: bring 4 character cards (and dice), buy 10 packs, build an 8 character + 2 action set), although I'm not sure just when -- hopefully before the year's out.

Thanks.  I'll stop in after work, to grab one, I'll call Jeff and have him hold it for me (unless you are there before then).

I'd like to see organized play in the area, no one else is doing it.

Thanks,

Awesome. I will stop in after work and pick one up too. I'd like to participate in the organized play also.

I just spoke with Jeff and he only has the Uncanny X-Men starter sets, not the Avengers vs. X-Men starters.  If he gets more in, he'll fire me off an e-mail.

Thanks,

If he gets them in I'll grab 2 copies then.  If you happen to find them somewhere sooner, grab me a copy.

Is the Uncanny x-men compatible with the new Avengers vs. x-men set? What boosters go with which? I'm guessing, seeing the prices, that the uncanny x-men came out a while ago and the avengers vs. x-men is a new release, probably with a few rule tweaks. So, if you were looking for a Christmas introduction to the system for two kids at $30 each, what would you buy?

It's actually the reverse, Avengers vs XMen came out first, Uncanny is a new release.

They are compatible with each other, and apparently will be with all the upcoming Dice Masters franchises.  So you could have Wolverine fight Drizzt.

AvX starter set is very tough to get right now, but the booster packs are still available.  Start with the Uncanny starter and some Uncanny boosters.  The starters come with the basic action cards you can't get anywhere else.

Hope that helps

There seems to be a 2-player starter and a 1-player starter, right? Do you need to get the 2-player starter if you want to play with someone who does not have the game?

I haven't seen a 1-player starter?  Do you have a link to an example?

As far as I know there are 2 starter sets (Avengers vs X-Men and Uncanny X-Men) and boosters for each of those sets.

Picked up the uncanny starter under $10 at Half Priced Books.  This seems like a great game for blind draft tournaments, if people stop buying full cases.  ;D

Phantom got in 2 Avengers vs X-Men starters, picked them both up for me and Tom.  If Jeff at Phantom gets more in he'll let me know.

Also they have the organized play kit and may run it the week between Christmas and New Years. If anything it may be a chance for people to get together and trade cards and dice.  I know I'll have extras to trade.

Thanks,

Thanks for the help. I went with two uncanny x-men stater boxes and one gravity feed booster box for a total of $75. Each boy will get a starter box and 45 boosters. Not bad. The best part is that they will want to play it with me! That's the best kind of gift :)
